University Pathways

Victoria is home to the University of Victoria (UVic), Camosun College, and Royal Roads University, giving international students research-university strength, supportive college pathways, and applied professional degrees in one compact, ocean-side region. UVic is consistently ranked among Canada's top universities and is especially known for co-operative education, weaving paid work terms into degrees across science, engineering and computer science, business, the social sciences, fine arts, and law.

Students who still need to meet UVic's English requirement can enter through the University Pathway Program, which combines first-year degree courses with academic English so you keep progressing toward your degree without losing time. Camosun College offers a smaller-scale route, with university-transfer courses and two-year diplomas that lead toward UVic and other BC universities. Royal Roads University in nearby Colwood rounds out the choices, teaching applied degrees in business, tourism, and environmental science on a spectacular castle estate, with a flexible admission policy that weighs real-world experience alongside grades.

As the provincial capital and a year-round tourist destination, the city has a steady demand for workers in hospitality, retail, and tourism, while its mild climate means hiking, cycling, and paddling stay on the menu through every season.

Victoria is more affordable and far more walkable than Vancouver, so you can often live without a car and still reach work, the beach, and the trails with ease. A friendly community of working-holiday travellers makes it simple to find roommates, job leads, and adventure partners, and local employers are well used to hiring international workers for seasonal roles.
